Thinking Americans Believe….. VOL. 1 -4

CHANGE CAN BE GOOD; CHANGE CAN BE BAD

Change can be good and change can be bad.  Making change for the sake of change is not leadership.  However, change is inevitable.  When change occurs, change can be managed or we can become victims of change.  Which will we choose?

Much of the country is overly excited about the possibilities of change and the change that a very inexperienced junior senator from Illinois can make.  Thinking people can see through the changes and have concern that the long term will bring disastrous change.  Others are totally absorbed by any change because of their hate for the Bush administration.

One of the most impacting changes proposed by Senator Obama is to revoke the Bush tax cuts and invoke higher taxes across the board though he claims only the rich will be taxed at a higher rate.  In addition, under Obama, the inheritance tax will be restored.  And one supposedly legitimate internet report indicates new taxes under Obama include new government taxes on homes that are more than 2400 square feet.  New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren’t high enough already).  New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity).  New taxes on retirement accounts, and last but not least…New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries.

Another change involves solving the health care problem.  Obama favors socialized national health care and pledges a plan for everyone.  That means if you are satisfied with the healthcare plan you have now, you won’t be when Senator Obama’s plan is implemented.  Not only will it cost most individuals more, it will provide fewer benefits.  No nation on earth that has a national health care plan has better healthcare than we enjoy in this country, even though about 20% of the population complains of inadequate insurance coverage.  Why not just fix the program to accommodate the 20% who need healthcare?  A national healthcare plan for everyone will bankrupt the country.  Now that’s change!

Regarding the energy crisis, the Obama proposed change is to check the air pressure in your tires and tune up your engine.  He’s against any new offshore drilling.  The problem is we need gasoline now and until alternate options are available.  The energy crisis is a complicated problem with a complicated answer and many politically incorrect solutions.

Change is also expected in our nations defense policies.  One example of this is to rid the world of nuclear threat, by the United States setting the example and reduce its nuclear capability.  The expectation is that the world will follow this example and rid themselves of nuclear weapons.  A great hope with little chance of happening.  Hope without substance is only hope.  Russia, China, and rogue nations such as Iran and North Korea will not be talked into dropping their weapons programs.  The result will be that America will have no defense against terrorist or imperialistic threats.  Is this the kind of change America wants?

The list of unfavorable change could go on and on.  Voters must educate themselves, have an open mind and make a wise decision.  Voters must think, sort out the facts, and decide.  Vote for the candidate who brings good change.
